Gixtra starts with your personal account. From there, you can create a band, join an existing band, or belong to several bands at the same time.
This article is for bookers, band leaders, band members, subs, technicians, accountants, and anyone else who needs access to a band in Gixtra.
Create your personal account
To use Gixtra, you first create a personal account with your email address and a password.
After creating your account, you need to confirm your email address. Gixtra sends you an email with a confirmation link. Click that link to confirm that the email address belongs to you and that Gixtra can reach you there.
If you were invited to a band by email, the invitation already acts as the confirmation step. Click the invitation link and either sign in with your existing Gixtra account or create a new account.
Create a band
After signing up, you can create a band right away.
To create a band, you only need one thing:
- The name of the band
That is enough to get started. Once the band exists, you can create gigs, invite members, and start planning.
When you create a new band, you automatically get the administrator, band member, booker, and accountant roles for that band. This means you can manage the account, create and manage gigs, handle accounting-related information, and also be added to gigs as a participant.
Join an existing band
If you do not want to create your own band, you can join a band that already exists.
Usually, this happens through an email invitation. A booker or administrator invites you to the band. You click the invitation link and either:
- Sign in with your existing Gixtra account, or
- Create a new Gixtra account with your email address and password
After that, the band is added to your account automatically.
If you already have a Gixtra account, you do not need a second account. The new band is simply added to your existing list of bands.
Use Gixtra with multiple bands
You can belong to multiple bands with the same Gixtra account.
This is useful if you play in several bands, book gigs for more than one project, or want to create a separate band for a side project.
To switch between bands, use the band switcher in the top left. It shows the name of the band you are currently viewing. Click it to choose a different band.
You can also create a new band from the same menu. This makes it easy to try Gixtra with another band or a new project.
Choose your default band
If you belong to several bands, you can choose a default band.
Your default band is the band Gixtra opens first when you sign in. This is useful if one band is your main project and you do not want to switch manually every time.
What you need before Gixtra becomes useful
Gixtra becomes useful as soon as you have:
- A personal account
- Access to a band, either by creating one or joining one
From that point on, you can create gigs, invite musicians, add people to gigs, and manage replies.
You do not need to complete a long setup process before you can start.
